How to create your own personalised canvas portrait print

The best Christmas gifts often carry sentimental value, which is why personalised canvas prints are great presents to find under the tree. If you have a special photograph of yourself or a snap of you alongside the gift recipient, our personalised canvas creator makes it really simple to transfer to canvas and wrap up for the big day. If you haven’t yet come across that standout photo, why not make one?

Here at Parrotprint we’re always keen to promote a little creativity, so today we’re urging you to make your own personalised canvas print to give to someone special this Yuletide. The good news is you won’t even need to book a shoot with a professional to perfect your portrait - it’s something we think Yule be able to do all on your own!

Here are our ideas and tips for creating your own personalised portrait print present…

Option 1: Stage your own BFF photoshoot

If you want to give a customised print of you and your bezzy mate as a gift but don’t have a shot that quite fits the bill, why not stage your own shoot? You could even arrange the event as a present – just write the time and location in a card for them to open on Christmas Day or their birthday. When it comes to taking your photographs you can find inspiration in some of other blog posts such as staging your own retro photo shoot or how to set up your own photo booth.

Option 2: Get serious about selfies

For those who want to give their nearest and dearest a photograph of themselves but have a limited collection to choose from, it’s time to indulge in a serious selfie session. You may want to consult our selfie tips post to get you started but chances are that you’ll be aiming for something a little more artistic or creative than the typical under-the-chin Instagram snap. You may want to enlist the help of a willing volunteer to help you snap the shot or start practicing with your self timer. Whichever option you choose, make sure you think about the setting for your photographs as well as your facial expression and body positioning. For example, you might want to have the photograph taken in your favourite place or choose to hold up a sign displaying a message. If you’re feeling especially creative, you could even spell out a word or message using sparklers – check out our sparkler photo tutorial to make sure you take a magical photo.

Once you’ve finished snapping your only decisions left to take are selecting which images you’ll transfer to canvas and what size or type of print you’ll choose. Our custom canvas sizes start at 12”x16” and go right up to 30”x40”, so you can make your finished face as large as you want!
