Near the Wind: Pentti Sammallahti and Kristoffer Albrecht
Where: The Photographer’s Gallery
When: 17 Nov 2017 – 14 Jan 2018
Near the Wind is a collaborative body of work between Finnish photographers Pentti Sammallahti and Kristoffer Albrecht, who were commissioned by Print Sales Gallery to “choose a location in the British Isles and produce a series of photographs in response to a particular landscape and its inhabitants.”
The subject is the remote Scottish islands of Orkney and Shetland in the early throes of winter.
Both artists have created work exclusively in analogue, meticulously hand-painted in toned silver gelatins. The Photographer’s Gallery describes their work as “unique artistic, narrative sensibilities and masterful printing techniques.”
