Making the most of your World Book Day costumes
If your little one was taking part in World Book Day today and is now the proud owner of a homemade or carefully purchased book inspired outfit of their own, why not make the most of it?
It’s always great to see the photographs parents share on World Book Day and of course, it’s good to see the reading mantle being passed to the next generation in such a fun and creative way. But before you pack the fancy dress away for another year, why not take things one step further this World Book Day and make some canvas prints to celebrate your efforts? Here are a few ways you can take your World Book Day photographs up a notch before transferring your images to canvas…
Stage your own shoot
Okay, so there’s not much time left to set a shoot up today, but if you already have some great outfits, why not put them aside to use another day in a dedicated photo shoot? Creating backdrops, sourcing props and thinking up storylines to shoot is a great rainy day activity for all the family. Not only will you be able to let your imaginations run riot capturing the images but you may find you have even more enthusiasm for World Book Day and the photographs you will take next year too.
Involve all the family
It may be that your school aged children only dressed up today, so why not encourage all of the family to get involved. Even babies can get in on the book character action as this Harry Potter inspired baby shoot shows. Or perhaps some literary inspired shots of your pooch could help transform them into an Instagram star? How much effort you all put in is entirely up to you, but this mum and daughter cosplay duo could certainly share a tip or two!
Get editing
Maybe your child was hoping their favourite book character would make an appearance on World Book Day or they wish they’d had the rest of a novel’s characters to keep them company? You could try to bring some action heroes to life like this photographer or edit your child into a book cover or illustration of your choice. Or, perhaps you could create a book backdrop especially for them, either drawing or painting them into their own magical book scene?
Whether you love dressing up or dread costume making, we hope you enjoyed World Book Day 2017 and took some fantastic photographs of the fun too!
